Why take the CNC Basics Training: Operation and Set-up course?
CNC Basics is a 6-week introductory course that teaches beginners how to safely set up and operate CNC milling machines and lathes. Students will develop comprehensive skills, from basic safety protocols to advanced machine operation. This course prepares students for entry-level CNC machinist positions with emphasis on safety, precision, and industry best practices.
Target Audience
Individuals new to CNC machining or manufacturing. Or employers looking for an introduction to CNC machining for new employees or to upskill existing employees.
The Course
The course covers the following topics:
Week 1: Machine Safety / 5S In the Workplace
Week 2: Basic Machining Vocabulary and Machine Tool Math
Week 3: Intro to Metrology / Basic Blueprint Reading and Understanding Tolerances
Week 4: Quality Control / Understanding Tooling
Week 5: Using CNC Controls / Setting Up the Machine
Week 6: Coolant / Problem Solving
Week 2: Basic Machining Vocabulary and Machine Tool Math
Week 3: Intro to Metrology / Basic Blueprint Reading and Understanding Tolerances
