About the TREC Grant
The Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) and Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) received approval for a $1.2 million Training for Residential Energy Contractors (TREC) grant from the New Hampshire Executive Council to meet workforce needs for energy contractors.
A $32.4 million contract with Everblue, also approved by the Governor and Executive Council, will support the implementation of the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) program in New Hampshire. LRCC will lead the TREC training for programs that are expected to continue through 2029.
This initiative, led by Lakes Region Community College in partnership with NH Dept. of Energy, offers substantial tuition awards to help upskill your team as qualified heat pump, electrification, and weatherization specialists. Integrate these lucrative state rebates into your current HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or energy services to save your customers money and scale your operations through 2029.

Delivered across three full days, this course equips professionals to guide homeowners through complex incentive programs, including the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) and HOMES programs. It covers key topics for qualified HEAR contractors such as conducting a HEAR-compliant Limited Home Assessment; producing Manual J load calculations for proper heat pump sizing; and Manual S heat pump equipment selection. Also introduced are building science principles, building envelope improvements (insulation and air sealing), electrical system evaluation, heat pump water heaters, and other home electrification upgrades. Participants completing this program will be able to guide homeowners on potential home performance improvements and the substantial incentives available.
