Lakes Region Community College is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the  New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Accreditation is voluntary and applies to the entire institution.  It means the institution meets or exceeds criteria for quality as determined through a peer group review process. An accredited college is one that has the necessary resources to achieve its stated purpose through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through the accreditation process.

Accreditation indicates that a member institution agrees to abide by the Standards established by the Commission and commits to continuous improvement via a process of regular self-evaluation of the institution’s strengths and weaknesses.

Member institutions’ accreditation status are available from NECHE’s website. Inquiries regarding the status of an institution’s accreditation should be directed to the administrative staff of the college. Individuals may also contact the New England Commission of Higher Education, 3 Burlington Woods Drive, Suite 100, Burlington, MA 01803-4514, (781) 425-7700.

LRCC was last reviewed in 2020. After the College’s 2018 Self-Study, the Commission requested a follow-up Focused Evaluation Report. The College submitted its Focused Evaluation Report in February 2020. After virtual and in-person visits, the Commission accepted the report in September 2020. The College’s accreditation was continued throughout 2028 with a required fifth-year report in 2023.
