Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) is thrilled to celebrate the achievements of Amber Hebert and Brian Collins, who have been selected as the McClelland Foundation Scholarship recipients. This distinguished award supports students who demonstrate financial need and unwavering perseverance in pursuing education and career goals. Through its partnership with community colleges, the McClelland Foundation empowers students to overcome financial barriers and focus on building brighter futures.

Amber Hebert, a first-year pre-nursing student from Laconia, exemplifies dedication and excellence. With a passion for healthcare, Amber has excelled in her science courses and is determined to become a nurse. Beyond her academic achievements, she works as an assistant in LRCC’s Student Success Center, supporting her peers and contributing to the college community. Amber’s commitment to her studies and goal of making a difference in the lives of others makes her a standout scholar and a true inspiration.

Brian Collins, a 10-year U.S. Army veteran, is another remarkable recipient. Transitioning from military service to civilian life, Brian is pursuing his dream of becoming a certified auto mechanic. He enrolled in LRCC’s Toyota T-TEN program and has gained hands-on experience working at Irwin Auto. Living in Meredith, NH, with his wife, Brian’s journey is one of resilience and determination, qualities that align perfectly with the mission of the McClelland Foundation.

The McClelland Foundation provides recipients with direct financial support, which they can use as they choose—whether for tuition, books, housing, or other personal expenses.

In addition, the scholarship can extend beyond community college, supporting students throughout their bachelor’s degree education at any institution. Amber and Brian’s selection as McClelland Scholars highlights their dedication to their futures and their positive impact on their communities.

When presenting the scholarship checks, George McClelland left recipients with a powerful message: to remember this opportunity and, when able, to “pay it forward.”
