Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) has been named a Silver Winner in the Best of the 603 Awards in the College/University category. The award was presented by Manchester Radio Group during a ceremony held on September 10.
Each year, listeners from across New Hampshire vote for their favorite businesses, organizations, and institutions, making the Best of the 603 Awards a true reflection of community support and impact. This year’s competition generated 340,348 votes across 276 categories.
“Being named a Silver Winner in the Best of the 603 is a meaningful recognition, from people across the state, of the extraordinary work our faculty and staff do every day on behalf of students and our community,” said Patrick Cate, President of LRCC. “While LRCC is honored to receive this recognition, we also see it as a reflection of the broader promise of New Hampshire’s community colleges to create opportunity, strengthen communities, and change lives.”
This marks the second time LRCC has been recognized through the Best of the 603 Awards. The college earned a Bronze Award in 2024, and this year’s silver recognition reflects the continued support of students, alumni, employees, and community members throughout the state.
This year’s Gold and Bronze winners in the College/University category were SNHU and UNH, respectively.
LRCC faculty, staff, and students celebrated the achievement on campus with an ice cream social and some new swag.

The recognition comes on the heels of another significant honor for New Hampshire’s community colleges. Earlier this summer, WalletHub ranked the Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) No. 1 in the region and No. 6 nationally based on an analysis of 613 institutions across 18 key metrics. It was the second consecutive year CCSNH earned a place among the nation’s top community college systems.
