June 9th,  16th &  30th
8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Meet at the One-Stop, Room 141 in the Turner Building
– Tours: 1½ hours prior to the first scheduled workshop
– Career Exploration Workshop starts at 2:00 pm

Wednesday Workshop Dates:

June 16th: Culinary Arts Workshop | 4 – 5pm
Come hungry, as Chef Patrick Hall will be leading a pasta cooking demonstration featuring different, delicious sauces and sharing what it’s like to have a career in the hospitality industry.

June 16th: Liberal Arts Workshop | 5:30 – 7pm
Using & Debating Science” In this two part hand-on event, participants will learn the concepts of DNA technology, including genetic analysis and gel electrophoresis, and apply this new knowledge to solve a murder mystery. In part two of this event, participants will watch a short video, ‘Frontline: The Case against DNA Evidence’ and then have a faculty led discussion on the complexities of how our assumptions may lead to mistakes when applying technology to our everyday lives.

June 30th: Graphic Design Workshop | 3 – 4pm 
“Photo-Chop-Shop”: Join our graphic design faculty to combine images in Photoshop to create a futuristic background. 

June 30th: Computer Information Systems | 3 – 4pm
“Computer Demolition”  Computers come in all shapes and sizes, but what’s really inside them? Participants will deconstruct different computers to see the insides and talk about what makes them tick. 

June 30th: Business and Accounting | 4:30 – 5:30pm
“The Art of Managing Cash Flow”

Whether you’re an entrepreneur or just love crunching numbers, this hands-on session will demonstrate the importance of planning and understanding cash flow, one of the leading causes of business failure. Join Professor Carlene Rose and learn how your business can be making money and show profits, but still fail due to a lack of access to that money. 

July 7th: Nursing and Allied Health Professions (LNA and MA) | 12 – 1pm
“Saving Lives” 
Join our nursing faculty as they demonstrate the different skills and equipment commonly used by Medical assistants, LNAs and Nurses. 

July 14th: Automotive Technology and Fire Technology | 12 – 1pm

August 4th: Electrical Technology | 5:30 – 6:30 pm
“Wired for Success!”  This hands-on workshop will provide an introduction to basic residential wiring techniques, including box selection, cabling techniques, wire splicing, device installation, and testing.  Get ready to roll your sleeves up and have some fun!

August 4th: Advanced Manufacturing Workshop | 10 – 11 am
Learn the Advanced Manufacturing process as you create a custom LRCC keychain! We’ll start with an original design concept, continue on to multistage CNC machining, and polish things off with the finished product. This is a great introduction to how products are made in the high-tech world of the manufacturing industry today.
