Governor Announces New Tuition Grants for Students Attending LRCC
Noting the positive outcomes of the state’s community colleges, and the importance of helping NH workers maintain momentum, Governor Sununu has announced new funds for community college students enrolling in fall classes. Individuals adversely affected by COVID-19 looking to upskill, retool, change professions, or take first steps toward a 4-year degree can make grant money and financial aid stretch further at Lakes Region Community College, the New Hampshire state school with the lowest tuition in the state.
The funds are available to all students, returning or new.
Says Susan Huard, Interim Chancellor for the Community College System of New Hampshire stated, “…Gov. Sununu announced that $6M in funds allocated to the State of NH through the CARES Act/Governor’s Office of Emergency Relief and Recovery (GOFERR) will be available for tuition assistance for students attending one of our community colleges this Fall…These are grants, not loans, and can be used for students in degree programs, certificates, individual courses, and non-credit courses…
“This funding is designed to ensure students do not lose their momentum as they or their households may be impacted by COVID-19. This is an ideal time to learn close to home at community colleges that are highly attuned to community needs.”
Lakes Region Community College offers more than 40 certificate and Associate degree programs, as well as workforce training, in Automotive and Marine Technologies, Electrical, Health, Business, Culinary, and Pastry Arts, Nursing, Liberal Arts, Fire Technologies, Manufacturing, Computer Technology, Hotel/Restaurant Management and the Arts.
