Description:  This 4-day course prepares students for the Building Performance Institute (BPI) entry-level Building Analyst Technician (BA-T) certification.  Students will learn how to evaluate residential buildings as energy systems with an emphasis on data collection and diagnostic testing.  Students will learn how to use a blower door, combustion analyzer, and other weatherization diagnostic equipment.  Prerequisite:  BPI Building Science Principles certificate.  BA-T is a lower-level certification compared to the more advanced Building Analyst Professional certification.  Register separately for LRCC’s 4-hour BPI BA-T Field Exam. 

BPI BA-T Field Exam:  $750 (Please register separately for the exam – Course#:  NCWK 9005L and CRN#:  28097).  Field exam days will be between May 13-24th in Nashua, NH.

Description: This 3 ½-day course prepares students for the Building Performance Institute (BPI) advanced Building Analyst Professional (BA-P) certification and requires Building Analyst Technician (BA-T) as a prerequisite.  Building on the BA-T training, students will analyze building energy assessment information to develop prioritized home energy performance work scopes.  Students will also be introduced to computer energy modeling to generate energy savings estimates.  Register separately for LRCC’s 2-hour BPI BA-P Written Exam.

BPI BA-P Written Exam:  $350 (Please register separately for the exam – Course#:  NCWK 9003L and CRN#: 35352).  Written exam day will be on June 21st from 12:30pm – 4:30pm in at LRCC in room CAT209.

The Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Science Principles (BSP) program is an introduction to residential buildings as energy systems.  Topics include the building envelope, heat flows and insulation, heating and cooling systems, air movement, ventilation, moisture, and energy efficiency strategies.  This course package includes: a BSP Reference Guide;  online BSP review materials;  and access to the BSP Certificate of Knowledge online exam.

Building Science Principles is also available as a twelve-hour virtual class (NCWK902L) in addition to the resources above.
