This course will introduce students to the Electronic Health Record (HER) and the way it is used within Healthcare today. Students will learn how to employ usability engineering methods in designing and implementing Healthcare IT functions. They will learn about Clinical Decision Support and why it is important and they will come to understand Healthcare IT-based processes. They will also learn how to work with end-users and administration to document clinic processes, in order to facilitate workflow analysis and redesign. They will begin to understand the importance of architectural safeguards for designing, building, purchasing and implementing safe and secure IT systems and medical devices. This course is the second of three which prepares students for the CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician & HIT Pro Certifications. (Prerequisites: HIT110L)
