Lakes Region Community College is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The Commission is a non-governmental, nationally-recognized organization accrediting colleges and universities in the New England region.
Accreditation means the institution meets or exceeds criteria for quality as determined through a peer group review process. An accredited college is one that has the necessary resources to achieve its stated purpose through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through the accreditation process.
Accreditation indicates that a member institution agrees to abide by the Standards established by the Commission and commits to continuous improvement via a process of regular self-evaluation of the institution's strengths and weaknesses.
