The Teaching, Learning & Career Center (TLCC) is a free resource to Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) students. The TLCC understands the complex needs of our diverse student population. In collaboration with LRCC’s faculty and staff, the TLCC supports student success by encouraging a variety of learning strategies while advocating the empowerment and self-sufficiency of students for the purpose of achieving their highest potential. The TLCC staff does not teach course subject material but instead provides student support based on their instructors’ academic lessons. The TLCC staff suggests and teaches the use of alternative learning approaches, memory techniques, and comprehension strategies for students to apply to their course material, as appropriate. The TLCC is not responsible for students’ grades and/or achievement; that is the sole responsibility of the student. The TLCC and its tutors are subject to availability and therefore their services are not guaranteed. In the event that a tutor is not available, students are encouraged to schedule time with their instructor, either during their instructor’s office hours or through an appointment request. When planning to use the TLCC’s services and/or its tutors, it is the sole responsibility of the student to note their individual course assignment deadlines, the hours of the TLCC, and the possible limited availability of its tutors.
