Licensed Nursing Assistant (5 Credits)
The Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) training program consists of
106 hours of course work:
• 46 hours of theory and lab, held at LRCC
• 60 hours of clinical at a local care facility.
The clinical portion of the course is conducted at a care facility on two separate days per week, and does not begin until the classroom portion has met for at least 16 hours. The college arranges 2 TB tests, 1 week apart at a local Occupational Health facility after the first class begins. The tests must be done before you can enter a care facility to begin your clinical training. The clinical is done on Saturday and Sunday over 4 weekends for the full term of the evening course. When a daytime course is offered, the clinical is conducted during the weekdays.

Language requirements are:
Verbal and written English skills are critical for anyone in a healthcare profession. In order to verify that entering students have these skills, students must contact an LNA Faculty or the Director of Nursing prior to registration or immediately following registration at (603) 524-3207 to schedule an English Competency review. The Board of Nursing requires English competency skills be reviewed before students enter the program to assure students are able to understand, read, and write the English language in order to do their coursework and to communicate with their colleagues and patients in the workplace. A student who does not pass the competency assessment may be dropped from the program if they have already registered. The College will make every effort to assist the student in finding remediation for any identified language deficiency. Students must assume financial responsibility for any tutoring or coursework necessary to address their language deficiency.

Per Board of Nursing rules, clinical is limited to 8 students. If the classroom size exceeds 8 students, arrangements to offer two different clinical sessions may be necessary. Register and make payment arrangements as soon as registration opens in order to land a seat in the course. Once a course has reached its limit, you may register to be on a waiting list.
A student may not exceed 3 hours of theory (class) absence. Students are responsible for contacting the instructor, and making arrangements to complete any missed work. The clinical portion must have 100% attendance. If an absence occurs, it must be made up in order to be eligible to graduate.
