LRCC Holds Veteran's Appreciation Day Ceremony

Veterans' Day Ceremony 2010Photo: (11/12/10) Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) student, Larry Damour (Londonderry), speaks at the podium during LRCC's Veteran's Appreciation Day Ceremony on Wednesday afternoon. Damour spoke of his experiences as a United States Marine and the importance of honoring present and past veterans of foreign wars, many who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Damour served as an infantryman who participated in the invasion of Iraq in 2003. He returned to Iraq in 2004 and 2005.

"I think that it is especially important during wartime to honor those who have served the country and who gave their lives, their health, and their wholeness in that service," says LRCC History and Social Sciences Professor, Scott Cracraft (Gilford- not pictured), himself a U.S. Army veteran and the event organizer. "This year it is particularly fitting to honor veterans of the Korean War on the 60th Anniversary of the outbreak of that conflict." Forty-seven veterans now study at LRCC.

More than 100 individuals participated in LRCC's Veteran's Appreciation Day Ceremony held on Prescott Hill.
