The mother/daughter team started in September and are still going strong… a lifetime business between them is certainly not out of the question.
“I didn’t think that I could afford college until I found this one,” says New Hampshire Community Technical College Laconia Graphic Design/ Media Arts major, Donna Gordon (Alexandria), about NHCTC Laconia. “I fell in love with Laconia. Everyone from admissions to student services, financial aid; everyone is great!”
Gordon was actually looking at art and then business colleges and universities for her daughter, Jessica Gordon (Alexandria), an honors graduate of Newfound Regional High School in June. “I was planning to go to college in New York City, but it was too late for financial aid and to register,” says Jessica Gordon. “Starting at a private two-year college in NH, my mom had been going to NHCTC Laconia and said I needed to come look at it and I really liked Laconia and chose to start there.”
Donna Gordon writes children’s books and has a number of scripts completed. She feels that animation and a movie is in store for the future of her books. That’s the reason for the dual major in Graphic Design and Media Arts. “I have the drive, the idea,” Donna Gordon continues. “I like what I’ve written, but I need to polish. I need to learn the editing, animating, and make my work stronger; that’s where NHCTC Laconia comes into play; the graphics and media professors are extremely knowledgeable.”
Jessica Gordon also loves the arts. That’s why she thought initially of art school. Then her practical side kicked into play. “I love to draw, sketch, and art history is awesome,” says Jessica Gordon. “My desire is to obtain a strong business background so I will be able to do anything I want. If I choose to do something artistic, I can have my own company and run it well.”
Maybe Donna and Jessica Gordon can combine forces. Graphics, media, and business… the ladies are creating a solid foundation for their futures at NHCTC Laconia.
