More than 300 business and marketing education students competed in the day-long activities that provided opportunities to practice leadership roles in competitive marketing related events. Sarno served as one of the judges who observed and evaluated individuals on their performances. Redman was an Event Manager, transporting and monitoring students as they prepared to role-play specific occupational problem solving activities.

Sarno, in fact, was Runner-Up in the DECA Nationals competition as a Manchester West High School student ten years ago in Louisville, Kentucky, competing against DECA students from fifty states. His DECA Advisor, Gordon Nicholson (Manchester-not pictured), now retired, was active in the Event on Thursday and encouraged Sarno to be a judge.

"I was very happy to participate in the 2010 DECA Conference," says Redman, about her first experience at an activity of this nature. "I think it would have been a great experience for me as a high school student to be exposed to real-life business applications in a highly competitive environment like these competitions bring forth." Redman is completing her last semester at LRCC as an Accounting major and plans to continue for her Bachelor’s Degree.
