Electrical Estimating Hits a New Level at NHCTC Laconia

A new era begins at New Hampshire Community Technical College Laconia.  Long known for top quality electrical programs, a relationship has developed whereby ConEst Software Systems President/Chief Executive, George Hague (Bedford), has donated sixty licenses for IntelliBid, the software program created by ConEst personnel, which is used extensively for estimating in the electrical industry nationwide.  The value of ConEst’s donation is $80,000 (eighty thousand dollars).

“The IntelliBid estimating software is a huge step forward for the College’s electrical programs,” says Department Coordinator, Gary Barney (Alexandria), responsible for the Electrical Systems Installation and Maintenance (ESIM) and Electrical Power and Control Technologies (EPCT) Associate Degree programs at NHCTC Laconia.  “Having a nationally recognized computer-based estimating software program, one that students will actually find in the field, makes our graduates more promotable faster.”

NHCTC Laconia EPCT Professor, Keith Fletcher (Laconia), formerly Interstate Electric Company Project Manager, agrees.  “IntelliBid is one of the best software estimating programs in the industry,” says Fletcher, who used the program extensively with multi-million dollar jobs he estimated and bid for Interstate Electric New England wide.  “Ability to use IntelliBid well is great for students when job applications begin following graduation.”

Hague, the owner of ConEst as well, has been part of the electrical industry for more than forty years having begun as an electrical apprentice when he was twelve years old.  Hague then opened Gemco Electric, Fall River, MA, in 1966, which he later sold.  Gemco’s still in business today.  “I look at a donation like IntelliBid as helping my industry and giving something back,” says Hague.  “The industry has been very good to me.  The donation gives me the opportunity to do something for the next generation’s electricians.”
