Lakes Region CC's GM ASEP Donates Blazer to Suger River Valley Technical Center

Photo: Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center (SRVRTC) Automotive Instructor, Karl Markela (Newport-left), shows the recently donated 1999 Chevrolet Blazer to SRVRTC student, Marie Branch (Newport-right).  The Blazer came from New Hampshire Community Technical College Laconia’s General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (GM-ASEP) as a result of Markela’s program being certified by National Automotive Technician’s Education Foundation (NATEF).

“I am very excited about the 2007 NATEF certification and the wealth of training materials that are now being made available,” says Markela. “The new NATEF certification would not have been possible without the efforts of SRVRTC Vocational Counselor, Virginia ‘Koko’ Feeney (Newport-not pictured).”

Lakes Region CC’s GM-ASEP program has received more than $1,000,000 (one million dollars) in state-of-the-art vehicles and diagnostic equipment from GM that has been used in training student technicians for 15 years. The NATEF certification allows Lakes Region CC’s GM-ASEP program to re-donate vehicles to certified high school programs throughout New England.
