NHCTC Laconia Announces Fall Classes for 2007

New Hampshire Community Technical College Laconia personnel announce fall classes that begin Tuesday, September 4, 2007 .  More than 250 classes are being offered in 64 degree and certificate programs at Laconia and the new Franklin Academic Center .

“Everyone looks forward to the new Associate Degree programs for the fall, Culinary Arts, Media Arts, and Energy Services Technology,” says NHCTC Laconia Academic Affairs Vice President, Tom Goulette (Belmont), a graduate of the State’s Two-Year College System before continuing for his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies.  “NHCTC Laconia is on the move.”

Also new this fall are two non-credit Certificate programs, the Fire Service Business Certificate and School Law Seminar Series being offered through the Center for Workforce Development (CWD) on Prescott Hill.  “Fire Technology, being one of the largest programs at NHCTC Laconia, has many specialty areas where greater knowledge is necessary,” says Acting CWD Director, Joe Hallgren ( Laconia ).  “Dr. Connell (Meredith- Fire Technology Department Head) has worked with us in developing three excellent offshoots, the Fire Chief Business Certificate, Shift Commander Business Certificate, and the Company Officer Supervisory Business Certificate.”

Online and hybrid classes are being offered in such areas as Management/Leadership and Infant Toddler Development.  “The new hybrid courses are exciting,” Goulette continues.  “With hybrid courses, the time is shorter, half the classes meet online, and meshes the best of both worlds, cyberspace and classroom/laboratory instruction.  We expect the hybrid terms, 9/4-10/26 & 10/29-12/21, to be well received by students.”
