New Hampshire Community Technical College Laconia’s Teacher Preparation and Early Childhood Education programs will host an Open House on Wednesday, May 9 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The Open House will be held in the College’s new Center for Arts and Technology Building lobby and adjoining classrooms on Prescott Hill.

The Open House will provide a variety of information for those interested in a career working with children.  Representatives from community schools, day care centers, after school programs, and other organizations will be on hand to provide information and materials about careers as well as resources for students and educators, and to answer questions about their professions.

Three free half-hour workshops will be offered, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  The workshops are: Relaxation and Stress Management; How to Share Great Books; and Memory Strategies and Note-taking for K-12 Teachers.

“The Open House will provide an exciting and informative evening for high school students and anyone interested in a teaching career,” says Janet Kibbee (Penacook), NHCTC Laconia’s Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator. “Parents and teachers will also benefit from the variety of presenters and workshops.”

Dr. Patricia Wild (Gilford), NHCTC Laconia Teacher Preparation Professor adds, “Schools of the 21st century are changing rapidly, and the need for dedicated and innovative educators is great.  Janet and I encourage anyone who has ever thought of teaching to come and learn about the profession and how NHCTC Laconia can get you started on the path to a challenging and fulfilling career.”
