How to Add or Drop a Course

You may add or drop a course by completing and add/drop form or by logging onto the Student Information System (SIS). The add/drop form can be accessed here.

Adding a Course

Students may add courses to their schedule up to the end of the seventh (7th) calendar day of the semester, providing there is space in the class. Students may add a course after the seventh (7th) calendar day of the semester with permission of the instructor.

Students may not add an online course after the start date of the course without the permission of the instructor.

Dropping a Course

Students are encouraged to contact their advisor and/or instructor when considering dropping a course. Dropping a course may change student status for financial aid, veteran's benefits, etc.

Students will receive the following on their academic transcript when:

Dropping a Course Prior to the 60% Point of the Semester

  • W-Student Withdrawal: Student initiated withdrawal from a course at any time prior to completion of the drop deadline (60% of the course).  Does not affect GPA, can be initiated by the instructor if the student, because of extenuating circumstances is unable to initiate the process (e.g., catastrophic illness or injury, job transfer to another state).

Dropping a Course After the 60%  Point of the Semester

  • WF-Withdraw Failing: Student initiated withdrawal from a course after the drop deadline (60%) of the course; student has a failing grade at time of drop, as determined by the instructor. A “WF” is calculated into the GPA as an “F”.
  • WP-Withdraw Passing: Student initiated withdrawal from a course after the drop deadline (60%) of the course; student has a passing grade at time of drop, as determined by the instructor.  A “WP” does not affect GPA and can be initiated by the instructor if the student, because of extenuating circumstances, is unable to initiate the process (e.g., catastrophic illness or injury, job transfer to another state).
